BUCHANAN, Va. (WDBJ) – The Buchanan Theatre has been part of the community for more than a century, and Saturday night marks a turning point for the historic movie house.
Opened in 1917, the theatre is hosting its final movie night before temporarily closing for a major renovation. Admission is free, and all drinks and candy are 50 percent off, giving moviegoers one last chance to enjoy the space as it is now.
Located on Main Street in the small town of Buchanan, the registered historic building is the only movie theatre in Botetourt County. It is owned by Standing Room Only, Inc., a nonprofit corporation, and operated as a community service to provide affordable entertainment for local residents.
