Prosecution not going forward, for now, in case of triple-fatal crash

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – The Roanoke County Commonwealth’s Attorney is not moving ahead with prosecuting the driver of a tractor-trailer involved in a crash that left three people dead, at least not for now.

58-year-old El Hadji Karamoko Ouattara of Maryland was charged with three counts of manslaughter, plus reckless driving, after the crash December 22, 2025 on I-81.

The preliminary hearing set for February 12, 2026, was canceled because prosecutors still don’t have the results of a toxicology test on Ouattara or the final medical examiner’s report on the causes of death, according to Commonwealth’s Attorney Brian Holohan…
