ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Appalachian Power Company (APCo) will conduct a mandatory test of its electricity generating units at the Smith Mountain Dam on Monday, Feb. 16, moved from the original testing date of Feb. 9.
The company says that water levels will plummet by two feet as a result.
After the testing, which occurs twice a year, APCo will pump water back into Smith Mountain Lake from Leesville Lake late Monday afternoon, as conditions allow. This process is expected to be finished by Wednesday, Feb. 18.
