Virginia’s mountain air feels damp and raw this morning as light snow begins to mix with rain across the higher elevations near Blacksburg. At 38 degrees, it is just cold enough for flakes to briefly stick on grassy areas and shaded roads.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, a chance of light accumulating snow will develop late this morning into midday across parts of southwest Virginia and nearby West Virginia. Precipitation may start as rain in town before mixing with wet snow, especially along the Blue Ridge and higher ridges.
