FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – Rena Clark Jennings, a 21-year veteran in the Franklin County Public Safety Department, started her career as a firefighter and paramedic.
After years in the role, she was promoted to the rank of captain. But in a lawsuit filed Feb. 13, 2026, she says the then-Public Safety Chief told her the county did not want the position to be held by a female.
