Blacksburg, Va. – Drivers across southwest Virginia and southeast West Virginia should prepare for slick roads beginning Monday morning as snow and freezing rain threaten to coat bridges and mountain passes before the Tuesday commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, a winter system will spread snow across the region Monday, with light accumulations for many communities and 1 to 3 inches possible in southeast West Virginia and higher elevations. As temperatures hover near freezing Monday night into Tuesday, freezing rain may develop, producing a glaze of ice up to 0.10 inch in the New River Valley, Alleghany Highlands and parts of the Virginia highlands…
