Cavaliers nearly complete stunning turnaround at home

Virginia nearly completed a remarkable comeback Sunday afternoon, but the Cavaliers were edged 83-82 by Virginia Tech in the closing seconds at John Paul Jones Arena.

Trailing by as many as 23 points in the first half, Virginia (19-10, 11-7 ACC) stormed back behind a sensational second-half effort from Kymora Johnson. The sophomore guard poured in 25 of her 26 points after halftime, helping the Cavaliers outscore the Hokies 54-40 over the final two quarters. Johnson also contributed seven rebounds and six assists in an all-around performance.

Paris Clark added 16 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals. Tabitha Amanze recorded 11 points and seven boards, while Sa’Myah Smith chipped in 10 points and six rebounds to give Virginia four players in double figures…
