Community asked to help find escaped pets after Salem crash

SALEM, Va. (WFXR) – On Saturday, February 28, a transport van carrying rescued cats and dogs got in a car crash. The accident resulted in five animals escaping the van and are actively missing, according to City Dogs and City Kitties Rescue.

The rescue says, the van involved in the accident has a safety feature that causes the windows to roll down upon impact. Crates in the vehicle were damaged upon impact which resulted in the escape of more animals than the rescue initially thought.

The crash happened on I-81 North at Exit 137 (VA-619/Wildwood Rd) in Salem, Va.
