Christiansburg lowers flags in honor of former town councilman, author

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) – The town of Christiansburg announced it lowered its flags to half-staff Monday, March 2, 2026 in honor of former town councilman and author Harry Collins, “who passed away over the weekend.”

Collins served on the Christiansburg Town Council for four years and played a key role role in the development of Huckleberry Park, the town said.

According to the town, Collins was an advocate for the Lung Transplant Foundation. He was also a guest on WDBJ’s Here @ Home in 2025 to talk about his experience in needing a lung transplant and why he wanted to get involved…..
