BEDFORD, Va. (WFXR) – Just after 1:30 a.m. on the morning of March 13, firefighters with the Bedford Fire Department (BFD), Forest Fire Department (FFD), and Brookville-Timberlake Volunteer Fire Department joined forces to tackle a garage fire on Colby Dr.
The fire Chief from FFD arrived to see a two-car detached garage with fire throughout and a collapsed roof. After surveying the entire garage structure, the Chief saw two additional garage bays on a lower level. FFD says command requested an upgrade to a working fire.
According to BFD, due to proximity to the main residence and reports of flames through the roof, Company 5 (FFD) requested the call be upgraded to a full structural response. Rescue 1 with BFD responded and relieved crews, then helped with salvage and overhaul. BFD says Rescue 1 operated for just under an hour until cleared by command…
