Franklin County could raise multiple taxes to help with fiscal budget

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Rising inflation and less funding from the state are two main factors at play in a tight 2026-27 fiscal budget in Franklin County. During Tuesday night’s Board of Supervisors meeting, County Administrator Steve Sandy suggested raising the real estate tax.

This would be a three-cent increase from 43 cents per $100 to 46 cents per $100, and it could generate more than $3 million annually for the county. Even with the change, Franklin County would still have one of the lowest real estate taxes in the area.
