Driver hospitalized after crashing reportedly stolen Southern Air vehicle during pursuit

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — One person was hospitalized after a police pursuit ended in a crash early Wednesday morning, according to firefighters.

Virginia State Police said a trooper encountered a vehicle reported stolen by the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office around 6 a.m. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver allegedly fled.

Authorities said the pursuit continued along Big Island Highway and reached speeds of up to 100 mph before a tire deflation device was deployed. The vehicle reportedly continued fleeing and later crashed near Hunting Creek Road…
