Local landscaper struggles to offset soaring fuel costs

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – As we spring into these warmer months demand for services on everything from mowing to paving is starting to grow. But rising gas prices are starting to take a toll on local landscaping businesses, like Galvan Landscapers.“We have trucks that we spend 2 or 3 weeks before the gas went up, like $200. Now, we’ve spent like $400 to $600,” said German Galvan, the Vice President of Galvan Landscapers.

The sharp increase is forcing business owners like German Galvan to make difficult choices, especially when it comes to customers.

“We have to charge at least $5 to $10 more to our customers. That’s when they say ‘last year you were charging me $65, why are you going up,” said Galvan…
