Roanoke airport to pursue some expansion despite denial of state funding

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport is moving forward with interior expansion plans despite the Virginia General Assembly denying its funding requests. Meanwhile, travelers expressed relief that TSA agents will be receiving pay again after going more than a month without compensation.

The airport requested two large sums of funding from the state legislature: $7 million to conduct a study on extending one of its runways and $40 million for major interior upgrades. Neither request was included in either version of the proposed Virginia budget.
