Lynchburg man in custody following threats made online

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – A 42-year-old Lynchburg man was arrested following online threats made on YouTube aimed at students who attend Jefferson Forest High School in Bedford County on Wednesday morning, according to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office.

Brian Scott Barlow was arrested and charged with a Class 6 felony for threats by electronic communication to kill or discharge a firearm on school property.

At 1:30 a.m. on April 1, 2026, dispatch received a call from a South Carolina resident. According to deputies, the resident said they were on YouTube and saw a comment that disturbed them; the comment referenced somebody made threats against students at Jefferson Forest High School.

Investigators immediately established an inquiry and through numerous IP searches as well as other various means, Barlow was located and taken into custody as deputies allege he made the threats…
