BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Just before 3 p.m. on April 9, volunteers with the Forest Fire Department (FFD) responded to Clair Ct for a residential structure fire.
FFD says Deputy Chief Coleman saw smoke showing from the eaves on all four sides upon arrival. Neighbors made it known to the chief that someone was inside the home.
Engine 5 arrived and crews entered rescue mode, splitting into teams with Deputy Chief Coleman to initiate suppression efforts and search, according to FFD. Chief 5 established command and tasked Tower Ladder 5 with search and ventilation operations. It was at this time that crews found three animals dead from the fire…
