BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR)- A new initiative gives residents in Botetourt County, Rocky Mount, and Vinton a chance to audit their home’s energy use at no cost while providing workforce training in energy efficiency.
Funding for the program was made available through a federal Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant. Homeowners can apply for energy audits in an effort to evaluate how the energy is used and identify steps to improve efficiency, thus reducing utility costs. Participating homeowners will not be required to make any of the recommended improvements.
Residents accepted in the workforce training program will have the opportunity to earn three nationally recognized credentials; Building Science Principles, BPI Building Analyst Technician, and BPI Building Analyst Professional. Each participant will complete at least five residential energy audits…
