BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) – WDBJ7 has learned the Montgomery County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office concluded that “there is no criminal offense which can be pursued” against a Blacksburg Police Department officer who hit a 22-year-old pedestrian in December 2025.
In an email correspondence between Commonwealth’s Attorney Mary K. Pettit and officials from the Virginia State Police dated April 9, 2026, Pettit said:

The pedestrian, identified as Spencer David Woodson Forsling of Blacksburg, was struck while he was attempting to cross the intersection of N. Main St. and Roanoke St.; he was pronounced dead at the scene, VSP says…
