Happening Wednesday: ROC the Block, Concerts by the Shore, and Antiques Roadshow

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Here’s your guide to what’s happening around the Rochester area on Wednesday. You can see more upcoming events in our community calendar.

ROC the Block

The annual ROC the Block hiring fair returns on Wednesday. The first fair of the season will take place at Paul Bianchi Park on Emerson Street.

More than 120 employers will take part this season, including the University of Rochester, Wegmans, Coca-Cola, RTS, Kodak, and Bausch and Lomb. Each event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Here’s the schedule for the rest of the season:

  • July 15: Rochester Public Market, 280 N. Union St.
  • Aug. 19: Salvation Army, 100 West Ave.
  • Sept. 24: Parcel 5, 285 E. Main St.

The events aim to bring job seekers and employers together in a fun, block-party-style. The City of Rochester’s Workforce Development Mobile Unit will be at the events with Wi-Fi access and laptops, so job seekers can update their resumes and complete applications. You can learn more here.

Concerts by the Shore

The 40th season of Concerts by the Shore continues with a performance from party band The Skycoasters. The free concert series takes place every Wednesday through the end of August at the pavilion in Ontario Beach Park.

Each concert starts at 7 p.m., except for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, which starts at 7:30 p.m. Parking is available at the beach. Food vendors will be there. The concert series kicked off in June. Here’s the schedule for the rest of the series:

  • June 17: The Skycoasters (party band)
  • June 24: Linda Rutherford & Celtic Fire (Celtic music)
  • July 1: Atlas (dance music)
  • July 8: Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra
  • July 15: La Nueva Secuencia (Latin music)
  • July 22: The Real News (modern hits and classic rock)
  • July 29: Ignite Reggae (reggae music)
  • Aug. 5: Indigo Breeze (jazz music)
  • Aug. 12: The Dukes (60s and 70s R&B)
  • Aug. 19: Allegro (party band)
  • Aug. 26: The Uptown Groove (hits through the ages)
