Pittsford, Penfield residents still on standby as crews work to restore power

Pittsford, N.Y. (WHAM) — Around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Stacy Freed was on a Zoom call.

“I heard a big boom, and that was the end of my Zoom call for work, and it just looked a bit like Armageddon,” said Freed. “I opened the door, and it was just lots of wind and sun and tree limbs falling.”

She and her husband, Jeff Thompson, said in 13 years of living in Pittsford, a storm of this magnitude was a first. In this heavily wooded area, dangers are everywhere, including downed wires. A garbage can was placed on top of one in the roadway to warn pedestrians and drivers…
