Maplewood Nature Center opening
Rochester’s first-ever nature center will open to the public on Tuesday. The Maplewood Nature Center on Bridge View Drive near the Genesee River offers outdoor play areas, interactive environmental education, and community spaces.
City leaders celebrated the completion of the center last week. It will be open on Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., aiming to provide a place where people of all ages can build a lasting connection with the outdoors.
RPO at Barrington Street Park
The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra’s outdoor summer concert series continues. A saxophone quartet will hold a free show at Barrington Street Park, at the corner of Barrington Street and Park Avenue, on Tuesday. The music begins at 6:30 p.m., and if it rains, the concert will be moved to the Immanuel Baptist Church on Park Avenue. People are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
The show is part of the Rochester City Parks Series, which closes out on Tuesday, July 28 with a show at The International Plaza on North Clinton Avenue. The RPO also has other outdoor shows this summer. Learn more here.
