Fairport looking for project proposals for $10M Downtown Revitalization Initiative bid

FAIRPORT, N.Y. — Leaders from the Village of Fairport are looking for project proposals as they prepare an application for a $10 million downtown revitalization grant.

The village is asking people and developers for ideas to boost development, create housing and improve public spaces. The village says on its website that projects don’t need to be fully designed or finalized to be submitted, encouraging early-stage concepts.

The village says both public and private projects may be considered. The village says potential proposals could include the following:

  • Redevelopment or improvements to downtown properties
  • New housing or mixed-use development
  • Upper-floor reuse
  • Public space and placemaking improvements
  • Pedestrian, bicycle or other connectivity improvements
  • Canalfront improvements
  • Projects that support business growth, tourism or year-round economic activity

An informational session is set for Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 3 p.m. in the Village Hall Board Room. The session will give information and guidance for property owners, developers and businesses interested in submitting potential private projects…
