A flood warning was released by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 9:50 p.m. in effect until Thursday at 9:45 p.m. for Monroe County.
The weather service informs, “Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected for East Central Monroe County in western New York…”
“Flooding of Irondequoit Creek and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. This will include Ellison Park, with water levels possibly effecting Blossom Road,” comments the weather service. “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.”
