BYRON, N.Y. — Cleanup efforts continue after a chip seal treatment failed on State Route 262 between Byron and Bergen, causing tar and loose gravel to stick to multiple vehicles.
Genesee County officials said the chip seal treatment did not adhere to the road surface properly. Additionally, the Genesee Highway Department said it didn’t give advance notice because the material adheres in about 20 minutes, and the project completion only takes a few hours. At this time the road project has been stopped, according to the department.
