BRIGHTON, NY — Brighton police are looking for two suspects after they say a person was tricked into handing over money in a scam that began with a call or contact from someone claiming to be a federal agent.
Investigators say the incident happened on Elmwood Avenue on Sept. 17. According to police, one suspect told the victim to withdraw money and then meet another suspect to make a payment tied to a new Social Security number.
Police have not said how much money was involved or whether the suspects were known to the victim. They also have not released descriptions of the people they want to identify.
