ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Last week, a nationwide ban on $1 billion worth of Canadian imports, including alcohol, took effect. Since then, it’s had varying impact on small businesses across the Rochester area.
Ian Andrews, a bartender of 20 years at Bug Jar on Monroe Avenue, explained that the tariffs have mainly affected beer sales so far.
“When the tariffs were imposed, we did see a drop off in some of the Canadian [products] and the prices did start going up,” Ian said. “Say for instance, an imported beer, we’ve had to up our prices by $1 or $2 in some cases, because everything is getting more expensive.”…
