Rally held on 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — As Governor Kathy Hochul renewed her commitment to protect reproductive rights, activists took to the heart of downtown Rochester Monday to pledge their support.

This – to mark 51 years since the monumental Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, protecting the right to have an abortion. Since a 2022 ruling erasing many of those protections, nearly two dozen states have seriously curtailed access to or completely banned abortions.

Although abortions remain legal in New York State, activists say they plan to go to Albany this week to push lawmakers to pass legislation that would further protect reproductive rights.
