RFD helps woman giving birth to baby on Glenwood Avenue

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A special delivery was made for some Rochester firefighters!

According to the Rochester Fire Department, crews rushed to a call for a woman in labor on Glenwood Avenue. News 8 caught up with the first crew members at the scene and they said it isn’t their first maternity call — it doesn’t happen often, but it is special.

“Usually, we’re going to people having the worst times — worst days of their lives — and we’re trying to make that better, and this was a nice change,” said Captain Trapiss. “It was a great thing. Mom did most of the work obviously, baby looked great, everyone looked healthy, and it went very very well.”

The firefighters said their first responsibility was to check vitals and make sure everyone was safe and warm — and then it was all smiles after that!
