Rochester mother sentenced to 10 years for selling fentanyl

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Rochester mother was sentenced to 10 years in prison Wednesday for her role in a fentanyl distribution ring involving her sons.

Ebony Shine, 37, was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, 400 grams or more of fentanyl. She was arrested in 2022 after police searched her home on Post Avenue along with other locations. According to prosecutors, investigators found cash, drug paraphernalia, and three guns during that search.

Shine sold just under one pound of fentanyl, a quarter pound of cocaine, and a pistol to someone working for police. She also supervised her sons and co-conspirators, Emmanual Taylor and Nasir Shine, who were also convicted. They have not been sentenced.
