Water main break causes dismissal at Geneseo schools

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Students at the Geneseo Central School District have been dismissed following a water main break.

According to the GCSD post on X, all students were dismissed at 10:30 a.m. on January 24. They attributed the dismissal to a water main break and stated that all students would be bussed home unless an alternate emergency location had been specified.

GCSD added that all midterms and regents exams have been canceled for the day.

This comes as the Village of Fairport is experiencing water main breaks that may be preventing residents and businesses from getting water. The Monroe County Water Authority is currently working to get that fixed.

A few days before that, Chestnut Ridge Elementary School had to cancel after-school activities due to a water main break in that area.
