Hochul looks to loosen restrictions on Physician Assistants

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — As part of Governor Kathy Hochul’s proposed budget, Hochul is looking to remove restrictions for Physician Assistants.

As part of the law, physician supervision would be removed for PAs. It will also allow them to expand their services during treatment.

Some healthcare experts feel the changes would lift unnecessary administrative barriers for PAs to practice, which in turn, would help alleviate a worsening workforce crisis.

We heard from the president of the New York State Society of Physician Assistants also a Rochester native who recently testified at the budget hearing in Albany.
