Rochester faces flood warning, power outages, and road closures. The latest

A flood warning is in effect through Saturday afternoon for the Rochester region.

The warning, which covers Monroe County, will be in effect through 1:45 p.m. Saturday. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo.

Between 0.75 and 1 inch of rain has fallen, with additional rainfall amounts of 0.1 to 0.25 inches possible in Rochester. Some locations that will experience flooding including areas in Irondequoit, East Rochester, Fairport, Brighton and Penfield, the Weather Service said.

Power outages in Rochester NY

Earlier Friday morning, (around 9:30 p.m.) more than 1,400 Rochester, Gas and Electric Corp. customers were without power, with most of those customers located in Greece, according to the company’s website. Power was restored for most RG&E customers by 10:30 a.m., with the remaining 70 customers in the dark scattered around the county – in Brighton, Webster and Greece.
