ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Newark woman was arrested following a police chase Monday night through Wayne County, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
On Monday, deputies said they tried stopping a car in Palmyra, but the vehicle did not stop. The chase went through Palmyra, Marion, Walworth, and Ontario.
In the Town of Ontario, the vehicle was stopped on Paddy Lane after spike strips were deployed on Rt. 350 in Walworth. The driver got out and tried to run away, but deputies were able to stop her.
Lisa A. Sweeting, 33, was arrested and charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, operating while registration suspended, operating without insurance, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, failure to stop at a stop sign, improper left turn, and holding more than one NYS license.
Sweeting was taken to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and was released on an appearance ticket. She is due back in the Town of Ontario Court at a later date.
