‘Not fair:’ Rochester man says he hasn’t received refund, furniture set from Ruby-Gordon following bankruptcy

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A day after Ruby-Gordon announced their closure — and months after the company filed for bankruptcy — News 8 spoke to one local man who says he has not gotten a refund or his product from Ruby-Gordon.

Joe Dolce, who owns his own HVAC business that works with low-income families in Rochester, says he put a down payment on a furniture set before the furniture store went bankrupt.

“I went to Ruby-Gordon because they were having a going-out-of-business sale, and I took advantage of it,” he said.

He says he tried multiple times to get his money back or his furniture set. He adds that one time he went back, an associate offered up a more expensive set.

Dolce recalls going back in December, asking to see if he could get his furniture set, and when he didn’t get it, he decided to give them another month.

Since then, he tried to call to no avail, and emailed, claiming he still can’t get a hold of anyone. The Henrietta location he bought the set from is closed.

Meantime, he’s still out $1,000, with no clear or easy way to get it back.
