A Monroe County sheriff’s deputy was injured by a startled horse at the police force’s Mounted Patrol Barn on Thursday morning, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The encounter occurred while the deputy was working at the Mounted Patrol Barn in Mendon Ponds Park around 11 a.m., said sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Brendan Hurley. The injured deputy was taken to an area hospital to be evaluated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening, he said.
The injured deputy was not identified. Further details about the incident were not released.
