Rochester youth program applications now open

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The City of Rochester and Monroe County announced open applications for their summer youth programs.

Both the Summer of Opportunity Program and the Summer Youth Employment Program opportunities are available for ages 14-20. These programs offer six to eight weeks of paid employment for youth who are attending middle school, or high school, or seeking their high school equivalency diploma.

The goal is to help participants learn skills that will help them prepare for the workforce and continuing academics.

County Executive Adam Bello said, “The Summer Youth Employment Program gives young people an opportunity to explore career options while earning money.” Bello continued, “We know that these jobs provide a source of pride, teach responsibility, and prepare Monroe County’s young people for a successful future…”

“Preparing our young people for future success in their careers is a critical component of our efforts to create a safe, equitable, and prosperous Rochester by inspiring hope and delivering opportunity for everyone,” added Mayor Evans.
