Gates police make arrest in gas station beer theft spree

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Rochester man was arrested Friday after Gates police say he went on a crime spree.

According to investigators, Alan Jones has been stealing cases of beer from local gas stations since November. Jones had four outstanding warrants out for his arrest, for petit larcenies on November 6, November 7, and December 20. He was also suspected in four beer thefts on Monday and Tuesday.

Jones, 40, is accused of being involved in multiple police chases. Police say he got away each time when they stopped pursuing him due to safety concerns.

Jones was taken to the Monroe County Jail on an $8,000 cash bail.
