Woman arrested after dog and parrot were found dead inside Canandaigua home

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A woman was arrested after a dog and a parrot were found apparently starved to death at a home in Canandaigua, according to the Ontario County Humane Society.

Investigators said 36-year-old Danielle C. Ambros was caring for her mother’s pets, a 17-year-old Jack Russell dog and a parrot, at a home on Mobile Road. They believe she quit taking care of them in November.

On December 19, both the animals were found decomposing in the home after it appeared they starved to death. Investigators said the animals had been buried in the backyard and were exhumed and taken to the Cornell Animal Diagnostics Lab for necropsies.

Ambros was arrested last Friday and charged with cruelty to an animal and failure to provide food and water to an impounded animal. She was released on an appearance ticket and must return to Canandaigua Town Court later.
