Upstate NY man arrested, charged with assaulting police in Jan. 6 Capitol riot

An Upstate New York man has joined the long list of suspects arrested and charged for their roles in the Capitol riots on Jan. 6, 2021. The Justice Department announced that James Weeks, 55, of Sodus, N.Y., was arrested by the FBI in Albany on Thursday, Feb. 1. He made an initial appearance in the Northern District of New York on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including assaulting law enforcement during the breach of the U.S. Capitol as Congress was set to count the electoral votes in the 2020 presidential election.
