Dismembered goats, chicken found outside Eastman Dental clinic

Three dismembered farm animals were found outside the Eastman Dental clinic on Elmwood Avenue Wednesday, according to the Humane Society of Greater Rochester.

To be specific, a visitor to the dental clinic saw the carcasses of two goats and a chicken under a tree, according to WHEC-TV (Channel 10), which broke the story. URMC officials promptly removed the remains once notified.

“The Department of Public Safety was called immediately, and the Humane Society quickly removed the remains,” a spokesperson from Eastman Dental said. “It is believed that the animals were destroyed elsewhere. This is an upsetting situation, especially for our patients and employees who were subjected to seeing it. It’s important to note that this is an isolated incident and have no reason to believe it is linked to Eastman Dental in any way.”

There was some evidence on the scene to suggest that the animals were killed as part of a religious ceremony, according to a Humane Society spokeswoman.

The Humane Society is not doing any interviews at this time.
