Spot Coffee on East Avenue in Rochester has closed due to findings from a recent health inspection.
The inspection uncovered several violations deemed critical by New York State’s health and food establishment website. These violations include failure to protect food during various stages, inadequate sanitation of food contact surfaces, insufficient handwashing facilities, improper garbage storage, and sourcing food from unapproved suppliers.
“We take recent reports regarding our Rochester, New York location very seriously,” Spot Coffee representative Peter Kervin said in a statement. “Upon learning of the complaints and subsequent inspection findings, we took immediate action to address the issue.”
“The restaurant has been closed temporarily while we work diligently to rectify the situation and ensure that all necessary measures are taken to prevent any recurrence of such incidents,” the statement read. “We are cooperating fully with the Monroe County Department of Public Health and are committed to following their guidance and recommendations. Pest control services have been continued to be engaged, and thorough cleaning and sanitation procedures have and are being implemented.”
