Rochester, N.Y. – A woman is now awaiting sentencing in connection with a crash that killed her sister early New Year’s Day last year in the Beechwood neighborhood. Prosecutors said Jellia Lockhart, now 30, was driving in the area of Denver Street and Hazelwood Terrace around 3:45 a.m. Jan. 1, 2023 when she crashed into another vehicle and hit a tree before fleeing the scene. Police said she was driving more than 50 mph when she tried to pass a car on Hazelwood Terrace before crashing.
