Rochester man arrested for vehicular assault after striking pedestrian

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The New York State Police arrested a Rochester man for vehicular assault after striking a pedestrian in Geneseo.

According to NYSP, on February 9, shortly after 11 p.m. troopers were patrolling Haley Avenue in the Village of Geneseo when they said they saw a 2018 Chevrolet Bolt that appeared to be speeding. Troopers said the vehicle then struck a pedestrian and a utility pole.

State Police said a 62-year-old man was hit and was transported to Strong Hospital for severe neck injuries.

Troopers arrested the operator of the vehicle, 31-year-old Thomasdiego Kessler of Rochester for assault in the second degree, vehicular assault in the second degree, driving while intoxicated, and traffic violations. Kessler was said to have been taken to the Livingston County Jail for arraignment.
