ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Organizers of the Rochester Pride Parade and Festival applied to have the 2024 festival moved to Highland Park.
In a statement Friday, organizers said the 2023 event had to turn away a number of community groups due to high demand. They surveyed participants, who requested more space, shade, accessibility, and parking.
They submitted a proposal to the Monroe County Legislature to move the festival portion of the event to Beikirch Park at Highland Park. If approved, it would be scheduled for July 20.
“This is a great problem to have,” organizers said in an email statement. “We are so excited for July, when we can celebrate and honor the members of the LGBTQ+ community.”
