Monroe Road blocked during civil rights protest; protesters pepper-sprayed: CMPD

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Protesters have been pepper sprayed by police nearly an hour after they were asked to leave the road on Saturday, CMPD says. Officers say Monroe Road was shut down between McAlway Drive and Alliance Drive due to an “unlawful protest on private property.” Around 200 people were present for the demonstration.
