RPD: Car stolen with people inside, Rochester man arrested

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Rochester man was arrested Tuesday after police said they found him in a car which had been stolen with a disabled woman and child inside.

Officers were called to Lyell Avenue around 2:15 p.m. when someone reported their car stolen from a parking lot. A disabled woman in her 60s and an 8-year-old were inside the vehicle at the time, according to police.

The woman and child were dropped off at the Rochester Fire Department station on Dewey Avenue around 2:45 p.m. Police said they were unharmed.

According to investigators, officers stopped the stolen car around 4:30 p.m. on Lyell Avenue. A 34-year-old man inside the vehicle was arrested and charged with unlawful imprisonment and grand larceny. His arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
