Volunteers prepare Teddi’s place for Lilac Festival

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Camp Good Days staff and volunteers began preparations at Teddi’s Place for the upcoming Lilac Festival.

Teddi’s Place is a designated area of Highland Park that was named in memory of Teddi Mervis who inspired the founding of Camp Good Days. This area is open to the public and features a boulder with a dedication plaque as well as flowers and benches.

Gary Mervis, the founder of Camp Good Day said, “So a lot of times where you sitting there with your loved one right there in the hospital, there’s not a lot to do. So to maybe take a little break and drive over here, be by yourself, and see what a beautiful area, good Lord provided you can you know, have a chance to think and pray and talk to yourself.

The area was created to provide a peaceful space for people to remember loved ones and pay tribute to the many children and families touched by cancer who Camp Good Days has helped throughout the years.
