Rochester welcomes Central New York flyers as Southwest exits Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Sunday is the last day Central New Yorkers can fly Southwest Airlines out of Syracuse. The announcement in April came as Southwest says it lost at least $231-million dollars in the first quarter of 2024. Southwest says it expects to end the year with two thousand few employees and with fewer deliveries of new planes. Southwest’s CEO says the airline is working quickly to address financial failures and return to profitability.
