Man shot to death inside Rochester auto shop; investigation underway

A man was shot to death inside an auto shop in Rochester Wednesday night.

Emergency responders were called to Hollenbeck Street, near Route 104, around 9:15 p.m. after it was reported that gunshots were heard in the area, then that someone had been shot at an auto shop, said Capt. Frank Umbrino of the Rochester Police Department. Officers found a man in his 20s inside the garage on the 700 block of Hollenbeck Street, Umbrino said.

The man was shot at least once in the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene, Umbrino said. His name was not released.

No one has been charged in connection with the killing, which marked Rochester’s 42nd homicide of 2024, according to RPD’s Open Data Portal.

This stretch of Hollenbeck Street is located just north of Route 104, between St. Paul Street and North Clinton Avenue.
