WEBSTER, N.Y. ( WROC ) — Before the snowflakes start fluttering in our skies, there are already a few prancing their way across the dance floor and preparing to pirouette alongside the pros.
“I look forward to dancing in front of a crowd and it just makes really fun memories for me to remember,” says one young dancer, Maeve.
The students from the studio Dancing with Denise in Webster will perform with internationally traveling, career ballerinas to put on Nutcracker! A Magical Christmas Ballet. The professionals will be traveling from as far as Ukraine, Italy, Japan and more for this 16th year of the partnership with the local dance studio.
“Looking at them—I usually just stand on the side of the stage—and I’m always in awe and so proud,” Baller says.
From the role of “snowflake” to “mouse” to “party girl”—every dancer has a part to play to make the story come alive.
“It will feel really cool and for some people it’s their first time. They can feel nervous, but it’s really, really fun,” says Cassidy, who’s been cast as a mouse.
